Tanks and Custom Fabrication

Chicago Boiler Company has designed and fabricated quality metal tanks and pressure vessels for over a century. Our extensive design capabilities, vast experience and production resources enable us to meet challenging custom metal fabrication requirements.

We custom metal fabricate ASME tanks, air tanks, pressure tanks, acid tanks, fuel/oil tanks, storage tanks, condensate receivers, blow-down tanks, reactor vessels, hydro-pneumatic tanks, filter tanks, scrubbers, separators, portable tanks, cyclone tanks and even therapeutic pools. The majority of the tanks that are available from Chicago Boiler Company are steel or stainless steel. If you have a tank design in mind we are up to the challenge!

Grinding Mills - Vertical

Principle of Operation

The fluid product to be dispersed is pumped upward through a water-jacketed grinding vessel at a controlled rate by an external, pumping system.

The fluid in the vessel is subjected to a combination of intense impact and high-shear forces created by the impeller system and media particles. The effect is to produce a smooth, uniform, finely ground deagglomerated pigment, thoroughly wetted to its primary particle size.

Media is retained in the vessel by a screen system, which allows the fluid to flow and be collected.

Fineness of grind depends on dwell time in the vessel, media loading, media size, media density, formulation of the premix, and effectiveness of the preliminary mixing and wetting.

Solvent recovery - vertical

Principle of Operation

Solvent Recovery, Solvent Recycling systems are evaporative distillation stills. The waste solvent automatically enters the distillation vessel utilizing the standard vacuum pump provided with the RHS Solvent Recovery Still.

The heated thermal oil recirculates in the distillation vessel jacket. The solvent sludge is heated to a programmed temperature to create vapor. The solvent vapor exits the RHS Solvent Recovery Still and travels through a condenser.

Clean, condensed solvent exits to a storage vessel ready for reuse. This entire process is controlled by a PLC. All Solvent Recovery Systems are covered covered by our five year warranty. We will repair or replace any article proving defective when used for the purpose intended.

Solvent Recovery - Horizontal

Principle of Operation

The Hydro-Tek solvent recovery, solvent recycling system will take your process waste slurry, distill out and recondense all volatile materials, leaving an easy-to-handle, completely dry residue in powder or granular form. The entire process is completely sealed assuring zero environmental impact.

Residue can be used as a raw material in other manufacturing processes. It is reusable and/or resalable. Hydro-Tek Solvent Recovery Systems are available in multiple sizes for many applications including paint, adhesives, resins, ink, and dry cleaning.

PLC controls assure perfect results continuously with minimum operator involvement. If your manufacturing processes create contaminated solvents, a Hydro-Tek Solvent Recovery System should be considered as an integral part of your environmental awareness program, while making a significant contribution to profitability. We have the technologies and other resources to help you develop your “Total Recycling and Resource Recovery Program.”. All Hydrotek Solvent Recovery Systems are covered covered by our five year warranty. We will repair or replace any article proving defective when used for the purpose intended.

dispensing - paint/ink

Principle of Operation

"Color-Right" Automatic Paint/Ink Dispensing Systems dispense base components to create custom colors on demand to easily meet small or large production needs with minimal effort.

Base components are stored in containers suited for the volume required to meet production demands. To insure a homogeneous blend in the pipe lines, all components are automatically recirculated.

Formulas/recipes to be dispensed are stored on the local dispensing system database or on a centrally located server. Our in-house developed and supported "Color-Right" Software automatically scales the formula and dispenses the correct amount and records lot numbers for reporting purposes.

welding clamps

Mr. Al Krumholz Sr. (second generation owner) invented and patented this simple and yet very useful welding clamp design in the 1930s. Since then CB Mills/Chicago Boiler has been selling these welding clamps to welding shops throughout the world.

The unique design of the "Red Head" welding clamps bodies protects the threads of the screw from "weld spatter". Open or closed - the threads remain inside of the clamp body and are never exposed. Heat-treated screws are replaceable, ensuring a long life for the welding clamp.

Drum/Tank/Tote Washers

Principle of Operation

The drum washer, tank washer and tote washer consist of a pressure wash pump, a wash solution take-away pump, and a clean-wash medium rinse pump. The wash solution is recirculated to minimize the clean-wash solution.

When the wash cycle is complete, the clean rinse solution is activated; volume required is typically < 3 gallons. Typical wash cycle times are 3-5 minutes per tank.

The washer nozzle is driven by the wash solution flow. The nozzle is geared to prevent free-wheel spinning. The spray pattern is directed for maximum impact and complete coverage.
